World Travelers

I have my grandparents’ 19 scrapbooks of world travel, is anyone interested in them–they’re amazing!?

My grandfather was an accomplished chemist and lectured all over the world, allowing my grandparents to travel. They were both scientists at heart, documenting every detail of travel and daily life over their trips from 1952-1997. These albums are amazing and being wasted sitting in a closet unseen. Is there a world history or world cultures teacher out there who would use them? How about a travel history professor? Help! What could I do with these priceless pieces of history!?!??! Highlights include menus from the Andrea Dora, receipts from every economy, detailed travel logs, recipes, etc.

Contact the Smithsonian Museum. They have been doing a very fascinating thing with just such pictures all last month.
They had pictures of the first automobiles, steam engines, people in clothing of the 18 century. I am sure they would love these. Also you can ask that your Grandparents names be put on the exhibit. Example, from the estates of Dr. and Mrs, bla bla, given by Miss Jane Smith. Or from the travels of Dr. and Dr. etc
I would save one thing, the menu of the Andrea Dora, the next time the Antiques Roadshow comes close to your city, take the menu and show them. I am sure it is worth quite a lot. Also, you can loan these scrapbooks, to the museum, if you do decide to keep them.
