Ordinance leads Mexico to issue travel warning

MEXICO CITY — The Mexican government warned its citizens Tuesday to use extreme caution if visiting Arizona because of a tough new law that requires all immigrants and visitors to carry U.S.-issued documents or risk arrest.

For US Citizens traveling abroad:

For the latest security information, U.S. citizens traveling abroad should regularly monitor the Department’s internet web site at http://travel.state.gov/ where the current Worldwide Caution, Travel Warnings, and Travel Alerts can be found. Up-to-date information on security can also be obtained by calling 1-888-407-4747 toll free in the United States and Canada, or, for callers from Mexico, a regular toll line at 001-202-501-4444. These numbers are available from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday through Friday (except U.S. federal holidays). American citizens traveling or residing overseas are encouraged to register with the appropriate U.S. Embassy or Consulate on the State Department’s travel registration website at https://travelregistration.state.gov/.

What ALL will I need to Travel To Mexico this April?

Hi everyone! Would you all be willing to kindly help me figure out how to travel to Mexico this April?
I live in the United States (An American Citizen, never left the country) and I plan to travel to Mexico this April.
What all EXACTLY will I need to go there? VISA, PASSPORT? Birth Certificate? What and where do I start and how? Cost? Fees?
Many Thanks everyone and I am so grateful!

By land – only need a govt issued photo ID and birth cert. This law will change June of this year where you will need a passport. Get one now as when this law takes effect – the passport agency will be backed up and SLOW.
By air – airlines will not even let you on the plane to Mexico w/o a passport.
Don’t forget a smile , compassion , patience and understanding when coming to Mexico.
