Ajit Bhawan Palace, A palace resort

“The Ajit Bhawan Palace is the residence of the family of the Late General Maharaj Ajit Singh, younger brother of the late ruler, Maharaja Umaid Singh of Jodhpur. Built at the turn of the last century, this stately home served as a residence that attracted Princes and Statesmen, Artists and Hunters, an electric mix of the interesting & the mundane – all drawn its true essence of Rajput hospitality”.

Accommodations

Accommodation include deluxe rooms through Luxury Suites that are unique with a distinctive feel of the Raj. Antiques from various periods and photographs from the family archives create an ambiance that suggests a private home rather than a hotel room. All the Rooms have a luxurious touch along with all modern amenities.

History

This is India’s first Heritage Hotel. Set in the serene desert of Rajasthan in India, Ajit Bhawan stands as an oasis of hospitality and warm Rajput charm. This hotel was built exclusively for Maharajadhiraj Sir Ajit Singhji, the younger brother of Maharaja Shri Umaid Singhji of erstwhile Jodhpur State in 1927.

Decades later, his son, Late Maharaj Swaroop Singh along with his wife, Rani Usha opened the doors of this stately royal residence to the travelers coming to the Blue City. They pioneered the “Heritage Hotel” concept in India. They had found a perfect way to share their legacy with all who wished to experience and have a taste of this royal luxury.

Reviews
“This hotel remains generally fully booked as foreigners like it very much due to its construction as luxury heritage hotel. We found it very cute made like village. luxury was there excellent place for stay. candle light dinner with folk dances is excellent.  there is good collection of vintage cars and you can ride, paying reasonable amount.  Staff is courteous. Restaurant is very good. we found here value for money. centrally located, you can do shopping walking.”  –  Ajit Bhawan, Noida, India, 7 Nov 2010.

We stayed her for 1 night as part of a 3 week stay in India for our honeymoon. Jodhpur is an amazing city-one of our favourites.  This hotel is v grand and we were excited by the idea of staying in an old palace. The room was lovely, not huge but big enough. The bathroom was fantastic with a v good shower. We loved the front door which was old fashioned heavy wood, and we appreciated the table & chairs outside which all owed us to enjoy the evening in privacy. The service here was excellent. We enjoyed the buffet for our evening meal. The best thing is eating in the romantic open courtyard, with a traditional Indian band playing on the hill -bliss! — Candiceabeth, Cheltenham, England, Oct 31, 2010
